Marnie & Me
Crime author Marnie Riches, who contacted me looking for some portraits convinced she couldn’t possibly look cool in any of them. The brief was fairly loose – to get a portrait of her in line with the edgy, murky worlds she creates for her readers.
The first shot was taken in Revolution on Deansgate Locks, Manchester, which is a very versatile location and marvellously easygoing from a permissions point of view (handy if you just turn up and ask, as we did) and the second around Castlefield, which has its fair share of Victorian gloom.
Lit with 2x Profoto B1s, Softlight beauty dish with grid on one as key, and a snoot on the other for clip.
